Red Stags Morris Mumming Play December 2002.

This is the third version of these pictures - I have tidied up the original posting and added pictures from some later performances.
Please excuse all spelling errors I miss - as usual it is late and I'm tired as I'm updating this. There is now a link to the
script here ... so you can find out what they should have said.

Some of the parts are played by two different people, so don't get confused that the same character looks quite different in some pictures.

The road to Amberley
Drive along narrow country lanes, past old houses then off to the right you see the white wall of the chalk pit. Go under the railway bridge, turn right into the car park and there is the entrance to the museum.
Taking pictures from moving cars on a dull day can give interesting effects as you can see in the fifth picture.

The museum has a wealth of old engines., vehicles and other "stuff". Let's face it, anyone who names a steam engine "Peter" has got to be sensible.

We got there quite early, an almost unheard of thing for Morris dancers, so we adjourned to the cafe for bacon butties, cakes and coffee. James had brought some wooden puzzles he had made so we taxed our brains studiously, as you can see from the pictures.

Finally the rest of Red Stags and Stain Street arrived and met up in the car park as arranged. We, however, had been told to meet in the cafe so some confusion ensued. Fortunately a quick phone call straighted it out and we met everyone and got ready to perform.
